⚖️ Progress isn’t just the scales - here’s how to track it
⚖️ Progress isn’t just the scales - here’s how to track it
Whether you’ve already taken your first dose or you’re about to, now is the time to set your baseline.
Because this isn’t just about the number on the scale - it’s about the full picture of how your body is changing.
👉 The more ways you track, the sooner you’ll see results (even when the scale is slow).
✅ Your Tracking Toolkit
Weight: Step on the scales no more than once a week (not daily). Fluctuations are normal - we’re watching for trends, not daily ups and downs.
Tape measurements: Grab a soft tape and measure your waist, hips, chest, arms, and thighs. Many people see centimetres shifting before kilos.
Progress photos: Snap front, side, and back. Clothes don’t lie — and photos will tell the story that numbers sometimes miss. I know it can feel hard to get in front of the camera if you’re not feeling very body-confident, but the pics are just for you to look back on and see how far you’ve come.
App tracking: Use tools like Shotsy to log your jabs, input your scale weigh-ins, track results, and keep it all organised.
Non-Scale Victories: tracking the fun victories - fitting into your old clothes, going up the stairs without getting puffed, fitting on a rollercoaster
⚖️ Tracking your Weight (but not obsessively)
Weigh yourself once per week max
Same day, same time (ideally morning, after bathroom, before food)
Avoid daily weighing - it creates noise, not clarity. If jumping on the scales gives you anxiety, you can skip it altogether.
👉 Keep in mind that your weight will fluctuate due to:
Hydration
Hormones
Food volume (how much did you eat for dinner last night?)
Sodium and Carbohydrates (salty foods and carbs cause our body to retain additional water)
If you're constipated
We’re watching trends over weeks - not daily ups and downs.
📏 Tape Measurements (this is where the magic shows early)
Use a soft tape and measure:
Waist
Hips
Chest
Arms
Thighs
How to do it properly:
Measure in the same spots every time
Don’t pull the tape too tight
Stand relaxed (don’t suck in)
measure once a month and compare each month
👉 Many people lose cm’s before kilos - especially in the first few weeks.
📸 Progress Photos (underrated but powerful)
Take pictures from multiple angles:
Front
Side
Back
Tips:
Same lighting
Same outfit (or similar)
wear skin tight clothes or just underwear
Same positions each time
👉 The scale can lie - photos don’t.
Even when the number hasn’t moved, you’ll often see:
A flatter stomach
Leaner face (less double chin!)
Better posture
And yes - it might feel uncomfortable at first. But future you will be very glad you took them. And nobody but you has to see them!
✨ Non-Scale Victories (NSVs) - the wins most people miss
Not all progress shows up on the scale - and often, the first signs it’s working happen elsewhere.
Non-scale victories are real-life changes that show your body and habits are improving - even if the number hasn’t moved yet.
Clothes fitting looser
Feeling full on less food
Less snacking or food noise
More energy
Better sleep
Less bloating
Looking leaner
Moving easier (stairs, walking, etc.)
👉 These are all signs things are working.
If you only focus on the scale, it’s easy to miss real progress. Tracking NSVs helps you:
Stay motivated
See results sooner
Understand the full picture
📱 App Tracking (keep it organised)
If you love data or seeing your weightloss over time visualised on a graph, you can use some free apps to:
Log your injections
Track your weight
Monitor trends over time
👉 This helps you:
Stay consistent
Spot patterns
Know when it might be time to adjust (e.g. dose)
📱 Our App Recommendations
Cost: free
Where: online based - save a thumbnail to your phone to use it as a web app
Features: track jabs, side effects, weight, and how you feel over the week and compares this to how people fared in clinical trials
We love it because:
It uses AI to predict how you will respond over the course of a 1 week cycle as the medication rises and falls in your system.
It also shows how your results compare to results found in clinical trials - so you have a better understanding if you are on track or an outlier. This is reassuring to know that what you are experiencing is normal.
Something to consider:
This app will really help you understand how the medication works in your body, and it has free features that other apps make you pay for.
It doesn't have reta tracking functionality yet
Visit the Glapp site to learn more.
Cost: free with premium options
Where: Apple App Store & Google Play
Features: track weekly shots, side effects, weight, hydration, protein & calorie intake
We love it because:
it gives you a clear chart showing how your doses correlate with your weightloss.
Everytime you change dose of medication the colour dot on the chart changes so you can quickly and easily see correlations between weight and dose
Easy to use and less complicated than Glapp
You can also track your side effects and how they chart over time
Something to consider:
The premium version will tell you your estimated medication levels at any point in time (eg. if you took 2.5mg Trim yesterday, how much of that is in your body right now)
it is quite simplistic and could focus too much only on the kilos, not a wholistic view of your progress
