If something doesn’t feel quite right with your ClickDose pen - don’t panic ✨
Most issues are very simple to fix and are usually related to setup, priming, cartridge positioning, or needle tips. Here are some of the most common things others run into when learning their new pen system.
“There's too much pressure in the cartridge and I can't add my liquid”
✔ You haven't added a venting needle (Step 12 in this video)
✔ Venting needle is not positioned correctly
✔ You're trying to inject too quickly
Watch for Step 12 in this video (05:45) and follow this process
use a second venting needle to allow air to escape from the cartridge
reposition needle within the sterile cartridge
inject slowly
"The grey rubber stopper came out of the cartridge when I was filling it up, and I lost all of my peptide"
✔ You haven't added a venting needle (Step 12 in this video)
✔ Venting needle is not positioned correctly
✔ You're trying to inject too quickly
Watch for Step 12 in this video (05:45) and follow this process
use a venting needle to allow air to escape from the cartridge
reposition needle within the sterile cartridge to ensure air is adequately able to escape
inject slowly, very slowly
“No medication is coming out”
✔ The pen has not been primed
✔ The needle tip is blocked
✔ The cartridge is empty
✔ Air is still trapped in the system
“My pen won’t click properly”
✔ The cartridge is not seated correctly
✔ The pen body is not assembled fully
✔ The dose dial is already at maximum available volume
Unscrew the pen carefully
Reinsert the cartridge
Reassemble gently without forcing
Check remaining medication volume
“The dose dial won’t turn”
✔ The pen has reached maximum available dose
✔ The mechanism is under pressure
✔ The cartridge is empty
Never force the dial.
“I accidentally dialled too much”
Good news No medication is wasted unless the injection button is pressed.
Simply rotate the dial backwards until the correct dose appears in the dose window.
“I can see bubbles in the cartridge”
Small bubbles can occasionally happen and are usually not a major issue. To reduce bubbles:
✔ inject liquid slowly into the cartridge
✔ prime the pen properly
✔ tap the cartridge gently before priming, holding the needle end up so the air bubble goes to the correct end for removal
Large air pockets should be removed during the priming process.
“Medication leaked after injecting”
A tiny droplet can sometimes happen and is usually normal.
This may occur if:
✔ the needle was removed too quickly
✔ the pen wasn’t held in place long enough after injecting
Some medications naturally sting more than others.
Things that may help:
✔ allowing refrigerated medication to warm slightly before use
✔ injecting slowly
✔ rotating injection sites
✔ using a fresh needle tip every time
“The pen is hard to screw together”
✔ The cartridge is misaligned
✔ The cartridge is not fully seated
✔ The pen is being overtightened
remove the cartridge
reinsert carefully
ensure it sits straight
screw together gently
Never force the pen closed.
“I forgot to remove the needle after use”
This happens sometimes, don’t stress.
However, storing the pen with a needle attached may:
Simply remove the needle tip and continue normal storage.
“I’m nervous about injecting”
You are definitely not alone ✨
Most people feel nervous the first few times.
The good news is:
✔ the 4mm / 32G needle tips are extremely thin and not very long
✔ many people find the pen much easier than syringes
✔ confidence usually builds very quickly after a few uses
